Golf

Image
Today I went to play the golf course with biggles and his dad. Le golf du lac de Tignes, also known as the marmot course, and we did see tons of them. Also suspecting that they may have stolen a few balls as they just disappeared as soon as it went off the fairway. Played some holes quite well, managed to get 2 birdies and a few pars, but then some 7s as well, which bumper the total up. It was good to play again though, it's been a few years. Also twisted my ankle on the 8th hole, so a bit sore now, but should be ok in a day or so. Bit tired now as it was a lot of up and down and the round took 5h and 20 mins.

Biggles' birthday

Image
Yesterday was biggles' birthday so we went out for dinner at the petit sav. Great meal followed by cake at the apt.

Nice

Image
Had a crazy few days over the weekend as we needed to help Ross' dad after a motorcycle accident, so the days were spent all around Nice, at the hospital, the police station, the garage, the hotel and so on. But everything's worked out and hopefully Phil will recover soon. I did also at least get to see the Mediterranean and dip my hand into it.

Rafting pics

Image
Just got some rafting pics from Mike from the other week. Got some good ones despite the water, splashes and moving around =)

Golf

Image
Just had the impulse to go to the driving range at the golf course here in Tignes today,  haven't played yet this year and it was really fun to get the clubs out. I'm surprised at how well muscle memory does work! I didn't hit the balls that bad, just the hint of a slice with the woods, but part of it could've been the wind..

Finished the frosting

Image
Finished making the frosting after I got back from work, and here's the result. We of course had to try them a well after dinner and they are amazing! I was a bit worried about the amount of frosting but turns out it's more than enough.

Red velvet cupcakes

Image
Having decided that it's officially boyfriend day tomorrow, ( Ross' and I make these holidays up) I decided that today was the day to have a go at making the famous Magnolia Bakery Red Velvet Cupcakes. Found the recipe here. Luckily the val claret sherpa food store was open today despite being a french holiday (Bastille day), and I could get the last few things I needed. I had to import the red food coloring earlier when my brother came out though. I'm going to make the frosting tonight after work.

Home made cereal bars

Forgot to mention I also had my first attempt at making my own cereal bars today, recipe needs to be modified slightly to be a bit stickier so the bars stay together a bit better, but a good first try. Here's a link to the recipe I used.

Sports tracker

Image
Since I'm new to this tracking thing, I can't seem to figure out how to share it on here or on facebook - it just seems to share a link to the general website, so here are two screenshots of today's hiking data.

Pas de Tovière

Image
Went hiking this afternoon with Megan and the mad beagles, our initial plan was to go to Val but a sign at the start of the path told us it was shut because of a landslide, so we decided on going on another one and it took us around the Tovière by the lac of chevril and up around the back of Mickey's ears and back again. I tried a new tracker app I'd downloaded and had I included the walk back to vc it would've been about 10 km in total and of course a few hundred meters in altitude difference. It was really cool to see the couloirs we ski in the winter when we get the heli pick-up.

Sunday

So we did get to go rafting in the afternoon and Mike joined us as well, had a great time, no one came out of the raft involuntarily this time, but we did go for a swim in the rapids and some braved the cliff jump. Hopefully Mike got some good photos with his waterproof camera that can be posted later...Unfortunately the day didn't end as well as it started since we had to take Peter to the hospital in the night, turns out he got a kidney stone. All passed today though so we managed to get him on his flight home this evening. We've had a great week together and I hope he's enjoyed it as much as I did. Now it's bedtime since I got some sleep to catch up on from last night.

Instagram pics

Here's some instagram pics from this morning's hike. The afternoon was spent at work and then followed by some tennis in lavachet. Tomorrow we're hoping to go rafting...

Manchet

Image
Peter and I went for a short hike in the manchet valley this morning as I was off from work. After that Ross joined us for lunch at les clochetons,we sat outside and enjoyed the sun for a bit.

Dinner in Italy

After the high ropes we all went for dinner in La Thuile, just on the other side of the petit saint Bernard pass. Italians eat a lot of food and so did we, a first course and then a main, which was basically like having 2 mains. Can't believe how they can have that and a starter. After which we had coffee and tea, and a few even managed dessert, which was followed by Limoncello in an edible chocolate shot glass. I still feel full today!

High ropes

Image
Today was spent mainly off the ground as we went down to longefoy for the high rope course. Ben and Megan came with us as well so there were the 5 of us. It was good fun and they'd changed a lot of it since last year, and apparently the photos they took of us then is still on their website. In the morning we did a quick run to bourg and got contact lenses for Peter as he lost his glasses when they were mountain biking the other day.

Visit from home

This week my twin brother is here visiting, so we're trying to fit some activities in with our quite busy schedule. Today I've been working but Ross and Peter have tried downhill biking and we've just meet up for lunch at the terrachu. Hopefully towards the end of the week when I've got mite time off wecabl all do something together.
