This afternoon was spent climbing and rappelling on the Bollin rock with Ross, Clare and Joel. Some scratches and rain showers didn't take away from a great afternoon.
Yesterday we decided to do some off piste even though it hasn't snowed here in a while. Conditions are fairly stable at the moment as well, avalanche risk 1/5. So we ended up heading over to Val and the Grand Pré for the Pisteurs couloir. You can take a few routes down the couloir, as explained by the guide book (see pic) and below is the one we took (in green). During our walk in the weather started clearing up so we actually got some sun skiing down which was really nice and gave us a bit more visibility. Some decent snow in the lower parts too, bonus. The day also included the North Face of Borsat as a warm up and a Telegraph at the end of the day.
Feeling a bit fed up with being injured today and would really love to be out skiing in the sunshine instead. Trying my best to stay positive though and at least my physio has said that I'll be biking by the end of this week - which I interpret as one step closer to getting back on skis. I know that two injuries are never the same but the last time I partially busted my lateral ligament and meniscus (same ones) in 2009 I got to try skiing again after three weeks. I'm currently at 1,5 so keeping my fingers crossed that I'm on about the same schedule this time. Trying to not get my hopes up though in case I'm not. In the meantime I've created this composition in photoshop. I'm thinking storm trooper gear, albeit a bit much, would make excellent protective racing gear. What do you think?
It's been very busy over the last couple of weeks working in the flat on both weekends and week nights. So there's been not been much fun to report on. We are getting close to winter so trying to get everything sorted and if we keep a good pace, it should hopefully work out! Insulation is thankfully nearly done, I've finished one of the brick walls and all the plasterboard should be up this week. Fingers crossed we don't run into any more hickups.
But, there was something at least news worthy today - the tour de france stages were revealed at a press conference in Paris and La Rosière and Bourg St Maurice got a stage each! Very exciting for next summer. And as they annonced the la Rosière stage, yours truly got a cameo as one of Propaganda's photos from this winter was used to present the resort. That's me there on the right side waving with my then claw hand in Ross' way too big glove!
